COLD ROLLED STEEL AT CAMDEN YARDS STEEL

COLD ROLLED STEEL AT CAMDEN YARDS STEEL

Cold rolled steel is a carbon flat rolled steel product that is created by rolling a hot rolled steel coil between two rollers, thereby compressing the steel from its original thickness.  Cold rolled steel is rolled below its re-crystallization temperature at room temperature. This cold rolling process increases the strength, ductility, and hardness of the steel.

Camden Yards Steel stocks, processes and sources cold rolled steel in 14 GA, 16 GA, 18 GA, 20 GA, 22 GA and 24 GA in multiple widths and custom cut to lengths at ASTM A1008 CS Type B.  Camden Yards Steel also stocks, process and distributes cold rolled steel blanks, cold rolled steel sheets, cold rolled steel coils, and cold rolled steel slit coils all over New England, the Mid Atlantic, the Southeast, the South and the Mid-West.

What Is Diamond Plate / Floor Plate Steel?

What Is Diamond Plate / Floor Plate Steel?

Diamond/floor plate steel sheet and plate is hot rolled carbon steel that has raised lugs in a diamond shaped pattern on surface.  Since the introduction of floor plate to the steel market, countless mills have developed methods to roll coil with a variety of raised lug patterns.

Diamond plate steel was originally created to meet the demands for new, safer steel products.  Click on the link above to keep reading and learn more!

What Is Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled (HRPO) Steel?

What Is Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled (HRPO) Steel?

As mentioned in previous posts, hot rolled steel is the most basic form of carbon steel.  However, the scale that is left behind on hot rolled steel after it is formed is undesirable in many manufacturing applications and processes.  In order to combat the scale issue, mills started to pickle and oil their steel to create a more desirable product for end users.

Thus, hot rolled pickled and oiled (from here on referred to as HRPO) flat rolled steel coils were born.  HRPO steel is still considered hot rolled steel even though it does not have any scale. The final product of HRPO steel is created when steel mills use acid baths to remove the scale that usually forms on the surface of carbon steel coil, as the coil is cooling.  Click on the above title to keep reading and learn more.

What Is Hot Rolled Steel?

What Is Hot Rolled Steel?

The most basic form of carbon steel is hot rolled steel.  Hot rolled steel coil is instantly recognizable by the bluish-tinge scale that covers the outside surface of a hot rolled carbon steel coil.

The scale covering hot rolled steel is actually iron oxide that forms on the surface of the steel during a chemical reaction that occurs when the hot rolled steel is created at a steel mill.  Because of this scale, hot rolled steel is best suited for use where the surface finish is not critical to the end user.  Click on the title above to keep reading and learn more!
